Job Objective/Summary
Camp mercer’s volunteer-intern coordinator utilizes a trauma informed care approach to walk alongside campers. They understand barriers faced by children experiencing homelessness and want to dedicate their summer to help campers work through them. The camp mercer volunteer-intern coordinator is responsible for the planning and management of camp mercer’s volunteer - internship program including recruitment, screening, placement, leading, recognition, retention, and stewardship. They train and lead volunteers-interns on how to work with campers and accomplish other camp duties and effectively communicate camp mercer’s mission and goals. They have a significant role in training staff to work with volunteers and interns. The volunteer-intern coordinator works closely with camp staff to identify staff and camper needs and provide adequate volunteer and intern resources to meet them.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and onboard new volunteers through various channels, including campus recruitment initiatives.
- Develop and implement training programs that equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles.
- Supervise and support volunteers during their assignments, providing guidance and feedback to enhance their experience.
- Manage volunteer schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for events and activities.
- Utilize software tools such as and Salesforce to track volunteer engagement and manage data effectively.
- Conduct regular meetings with volunteers to foster communication, address concerns, and promote a positive team environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify volunteer needs and opportunities within the organization.
- Deliver presentations or workshops as needed to educate volunteers about organizational goals and community impact.
Requirements
- Proven experience in volunteer management or related fields such as social work or community outreach.
- Strong skills in training development and public speaking to effectively engage and motivate volunteers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with software platforms like Raiser Edge or Salesforce is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to fostering an inclusive volunteer culture.
