Responsibilities
- Answer emergency calls and promptly address all requests (e.g., updating maps, sending email notices, etc.)
- Respond to dispatch cell phone inquiries and ensure follow-up on all requests (e.g., updating maps, sending email notices, etc.)
- Dispatch Hansen SR-Plan, SR-Water, SR-Sewer, Sewer Backup, and manhole overflow cases to investigators
- Update emergency work orders with necessary information, such as digging permits and excavation requests
- Respond to all internal and external email requests, ensuring each email receives a timely and appropriate response
- Review outstanding work at the start of each shift to stay informed
- Monitor and manage shutdown emails throughout the shift
- Maintain the Outage Map to ensure accurate public notifications
- Stay connected with dispatch team members via WebEx Group Chat for collaboration
- Follow work orders from start to finish, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently
- Prior dispatch experience and a strong customer service focus are required
- Adapt quickly to a fast-paced work environment and become a subject matter expert within the organization
- Demonstrate genuine empathy and effective problem-solving skills when handling customer concerns
Requirements
- Previous dispatch experience
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective under high-pressure situations
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities
- Proficient with dispatch systems, email, outage maps, and communication tools such as WebEx
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrates empathy and professionalism in all customer interactions
- Experience in public works, utilities, or emergency services dispatch, preferred
- Knowledge of Hansen systems and permitting processes, preferred
- Familiarity with outage mapping tools and service request workflows, preferred
Additional Information
This is a mid-shift position, with hours from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm or 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Friday through Monday. During the training period, the hours will be 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
