The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The incumbent will support the Disaster Recovery Programs' Public Assistance Field Support & Training unit within the Office for Disaster Recovery Programs. Duties include but are not limited to: • Develop and maintain knowledge of all applicable State and Federal laws, rules and regulations relating to Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) Recovery Public Assistance program. Act as a resource and share knowledge and expertise with staff, internal/external agency stakeholders and applicants.• Organize, maintain, and update electronic information and documentation for disaster declarations, letters, program specific information, and reports.• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.• Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.• Respond to applicants and internal staff requiring assistance with Grants Portal issues and processes.• Attend meetings with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), state agencies, and applicants as needed.• Coordinate information flow by acting as liaison among executives, staff, other employees and the public.• Develop and update systems to make them more efficient.• Assist with preliminary damage assessment team efforts and disaster declaration requests if needed.• Perform other duties as required.*Work schedule may vary based on operational need. Occasional overtime may be required.

Minimum Qualifications Current New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services employee with one year or more permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Program Aide and are interested in reassignment; OR Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 11 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 as appropriate of the Civil Service Law.
