Opening for Human Resources Specialist
The HSSI Human Resource Specialist is a full-time employee responsible for providing direct human resources (HR) support services to the Office of Civilian Human Resources (OCHR) This position reports directly to the Homeland Security Solutions, Inc. (HSSI) Site Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Human Resource Speicalist (OCHR) requires a self-motivated individual with the ability to function independently and possess excellent organizational and attention to detail skills. Provide human resource support that specifically focuses on disciplines such as recruitment, employee relations, training, benefits administration, or compliance. Support the Navy Operations centers throughout the United States to ensure that human resource processes align with business objectives. Required Skills include strong interpersonal and communication skills, organizational problem-solving abilities, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to use computer software applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases and e-mail.
- Possess excellent organizational and file management skills and the ability to plan and execute administrative work with little or no supervision.
- Possess excellent word-processing skills and the ability to prepare documents accurately with minimal errors.
- Ability to operate office automation equipment, including copy machines, facsimile machines, networked computers, laser printers, shredders, scanners, and other electronic equipment.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide proper advice and assistance to applicants and government personnel.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and strictly comply with and enforce applicable regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and to maintain a calm and consistent demeanor at all times.
- Ability to professionally interact with customers, colleagues and command members at all levels; and to foster positive business relationships.
- Ability to learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation or through on-the-job training.
- Ability to maintain sensitive files and documents and maintain a high level of confidentiality.

- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Prefer individuals that hold a degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. Certifications such as Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
- Must successfully pass initial drug screening and periodic follow-up testing
- Must successfully complete an HSSI background check
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must successfully complete a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI) with the ability to obtain a Secret Level Clearance
- Must possess a minimum of 2 years general administrative experience performing clerical or office support duties. Prior experience in human resources and employment services preferred.
