SUMMARY:

The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for the food program and all kitchen operations which include sanitation, meal planning, cooking, serving, record keeping; and ensures all public health regulations regarding food storage and preparation are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manage and maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen, dining room, pantry and storage areas including equipment, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

· Adhere to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintain temperature and other logs as required; and maintain appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.

· Create healthy monthly menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, using available donations as much as possible.

· Work with ASOD to purchase food and supplies that are not donated.

· Work with ASOD to create a list of needed donations and purchases monthly (for future use).

· Stay within monthly budget for food purchases.

· Prepare and serve lunch M-F and prepare easy lunches to be served on Saturday and Sunday.

· Prepare bagged lunches for those who sign up. (working clients)

· Prepare and serve dinner M-F and prepare easy dinners to be served on Saturday and Sunday.

· Prepare easy breakfasts that can be self-served safely and ensure the products/equipment are easily accessible for CSS staff to put out.

· Ensure the serving utensils, trays, silverware, and cups, etc. are properly cleaned and sanitized after each meal according to guidelines.

· Clean and sanitize the kitchen, dining room and food storage areas according to the daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.

· Store leftovers and cooked foods according to established standards.

· Work with ASOD to identify client chores related to the kitchen and dining room for additional assistance.

· Train everyone who works in the kitchen on basic food safety and sanitation.

· Keep supplies related to food safety stocked in the kitchen and available (hair nets, beard nets, gloves, hand soap, paper towels, etc.)

· Record refrigerated and freezer unit temperatures 2 x daily M-F, and oversee Saturday and Sunday records.

· Test and record dishwasher and washing sinks with sanitation strips daily and record.

· Coordinate volunteer meal scheduling, and work to increase the number of volunteer meals per month.

· Coordinate shelter holiday meals for clients and/or work with volunteers/donors to ensure holiday meals are served.

· Supervise all volunteers and clients working in the kitchen, dining room and food storage areas.

· Complete all reporting as required (Meal Counts, TEFAP, etc.)

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Must be 21 years of age or older.

Education and Experience

· High school diploma, HSED or GED required. Associate’s or higher degree in nutrition, food service, culinary arts is preferred.

· Must have minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment, including planning and cooking nutritious meals.

· Persons with Food Protection Manager Certification (accepted in the state of WI) will be given preference. Must obtain such within 30 days if do not have at the time of employment.

· Ability to use computer and Microsoft Office products proficiently.

· Must be 21 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license and insurance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 per year
