POSITION OVERVIEW :
The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in the success of the Finance department. He / She must be able to work independently, collaboratively and possess great attention to detail. He / She ensures staff’s compliance with HHCLA’s Accounting Policies and Procedures, internal controls and the Uniform Guidance. He / She will have knowledge or experience working with grant funded programs and the compliance requirements of the Uniform Guidance. He / She will have the responsibility over the preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliations, review vendor invoice for accuracy, account coding, accounting period, expense allocation and cost allowability. He / She will perform balance sheet account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, assist in the billing function, assist in the accounts payable function, He / She will assist the Controller in preparing various schedules to assist in the annual audit process, and financial statement preparation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Record and applies deposits into CYMA.
- Prepares balances sheet account reconciliations and applicable adjusting journal entries.
- Prepares monthly reconciliation of agency bank accounts.
- Reviews vendor invoices for math accuracy, managers’ approval, account coding, accounting period, expense allocation and allowability of costs.
- Assists with the preparation of the year-end audit schedules and other financial schedules as needed. Support funders’ monitoring activities.
- Assists with monthly funder invoicing i.e. gathering support documentation to meet funders’ billing standards.
- Assist with monthly AMEX reconciliation
- Implements and consistently practices harm reduction, trauma informed care, housing first and integrated care interventions.
- Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, utilizing professional, open and respectful communication. Maintains a solution focused, strengths based and client centered approach with managers, co-workers and clients of HHCLA.
- Maintains client records according to HIPAA and adheres to all client confidentiality requirements and standards.
- Attends and participates in supervision, staff meetings, trainings, conferences, workshops, and special projects to promote professional development.
- Models HHCLA approach, mission and core values in all communication, correspondence, community events, coalitions and advocacy efforts.
- Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned by the Controller.
