What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Team Member position at Homer Eyecare?
Looking for a job that you don’t dread Monday morning? We get it. We like what we do. We like who we do it with. And we get some pretty cool things out of it, too.
WHAT WE DO:
You should like what you do and, maybe more importantly, it should suit you and your skills. So we fit the role to the person. We want to know what you bring to the table that no one else does. Then we'll find what position suits you best. You are more than a resume.
"We aren't just an eye care clinic. We are people-developers. Who just happen to be in eye care." - Andrew Peter, OD
Overall, we work with people. Simple as that. From wrestling with insurance claims to tweaking glasses, from performing auto-refractions to booking appointments-- we each use our specific skills to care for each other, our patients, and our community.
We're looking for the right fit. In a nutshell, that means we want someone who is good with people (and likes them), who's a solid communicator, and who thrives on creative problem-solving. If you have experience or a medical or sales background, that's nice, but not necessary—we'll train the right person from the ground up!
WHO YOU DO IT WITH:
If you're the kind of person that needs what they do to have meaning, that gets energized by helping people, and who gets delightfully excited about learning something new--that's awesome. So are we!
We love our team. We believe, with as much time as we spend at work, you should like the people you work with. And since we travel together yearly (more on that later), it's we all end up being pretty close.
We all bring our own flavor, but we all strive to be better and continuously grow, we all bring our whole selves to work (all the responsible, quirky, funny, and interesting bits), and we all know how important working as a team and making each other better is.
WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT:
You need benefits. It’s only fair! So you get a consistent schedule, competitive wages, on-the-job training—all that jazz. After the first 90 days, we get the fun stuff--PTO, 6 paid holidays, and vision benefits. The base pay is also just that—a base. HEC uses a tiered compensation system, so raises are based on merit and specific, achievable goals, not ambiguity or based on a calendar.
Not to mention our HEC-specific benefits—free office glasses, discounted eyewear, educational and professional development opportunities, career growth options, our 2 week annual trainings (which have been in some pretty cool places, so throwing that out there.). All that and a dang good team? Not too bad.
HOW YOU JOIN:
Each of the following is required for consideration. So please, don't skip steps!
- Resume
- Cover letter
- 3 professional references
- Tell us what animal you'd be and why?
Show us you! Tell us about your skills and the things that make you stand out.
We’re excited to meet you!
