Pay Rate: $43.70 per hour

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing services for residents living in supportive housing primarily in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. The Occupational Therapist follows the principles of harm reduction and trauma-informed care to engage a caseload of up to 15 residents who are adults with histories of homelessness, mental and physical health diagnoses. Occupational Therapists are part of the agency’s Resident Services team and work in partnership with Housing Operations staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Identifies issues which interfere with resident’s activities of daily living and provides appropriate intervention as it relates to resident’s daily functioning.
- Determine clinically appropriate individual therapeutic OT interventions.
- Research and apply evidence-based practices.
- Identify, develop linkages with, and coordinate access to community-based services for residents.
- Accompany residents as appropriate to community-based appointments.
- Organizing groups, group facilitation and group development.
- Perform assessments as needed to determine daily functioning status and barriers (i.e. OPHI, MOCA, AASP, etc.).
- Perform Self Sufficiency Assessment (SSA) for residents on caseload.
- Conduct service planning for residents to determine functional goals.
- Complete documentation per agency policy and actively support contract reporting, data collection, record keeping, and chart reviews.
- Contribute to case conferences and other meetings through presentation of cases, discussion of clinical issues, and exchange of information and ideas.
- Attend weekly supervision meetings with supervising occupational therapist.
- Travel between 3 buildings within and outside of the Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Navigate San Francisco’s behavioral health care system and experience in advocating for access to services, including collaboration with other agencies.
- Research literature on supportive housing, housing first, trauma-informed, motivational interviewing and harm reduction principles.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION DETAIL
- Location: San Francisco, CA
- Status: Full-Time / Non Exempt - 40 hours per week
- Pay Rate: $43.70 per hour (bilingual premium $0.50/hr.)
- Schedule: Monday through Friday 9 am - 5 pm
- Union: This position is under the collective bargaining agreement with SEIU 1021
- Reports to: Clinical Team Manager
Qualifications
- Degree from accredited university for occupational therapy required.
- National registration (NBCOT) and California state licensure (CBOT) is required.
- Interest in providing services to individuals, especially those struggling with substance use and mental health issues or who have experienced homelessness.
- Strong interest in doing social/occupational justice advocacy.
- Clinical observational and assessment skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Excellent computer skills (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Salesforce or other cloud-based database).
- Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of staff and residents.
- Must be able to move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Stand, walk or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift: Requires repetitive motion, including utilizing telephone/computer for an extended period or for an entire shift.
- Fluency in Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese/Russian is a plus.
Sensitivity to homeless people and the issues of homelessness, recovery from trauma/substance use, and the ability to work with people from diverse educational and personal backgrounds. Must have passion for our mission and a strong desire to impact a dynamic nonprofit organization.
