OUR SUPPORTIVE HOUSING TEAM

Our Supportive Housing Division provides housing and supportive services directly to the people who need it most and our cross-functional team is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service while supporting our residents in achieving stability and success. The Supportive Housing Division consists of the Property Management, Resident Services and Maintenance departments. Our combined programs help over 900 households increase stability, access to opportunity, and success in housing.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO FOR OUR TEAM

As a key role in our Fee for Service Department, the Landscaper provides routine work, janitorial support and assistance to Maintenance who care for Agency owned facilities, units, and grounds.

 

DUTIES:

These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

  • Performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties: Edging, weeding and mowing, pick-up and remove papers and other debris, blowing and cleaning of sidewalks and parking lots, basic trimming of trees and shrubs, repair and maintenance of sprinkler systems, weed and moss control, care and maintenance of hand and power tools.
  • Assists in preparation and clean-up of housing units for re-renting to the next occupant including removing debris and household items, snaking of drain/sewer lines, minor related plumbing (supply lines, sink, toilet) installation and repair.
  • Assists with preparation for and painting of units.
  • Performs general janitorial duties that include sweeping, cleaning windows, window frames, channels and screens, sanitizing restrooms, cleaning light fixtures including coverings, replace light bulbs, clean walls, appliances, and ceilings including door frames, shelves and baseboards, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  • Performs routine exterior and custodial work, as necessary, such as cleaning laundry rooms, community rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and cleaning outside surfaces of units and buildings including gutters and down spouts.
  • Completes a variety of day-to-day tasks as required to assist in the upkeep of complexes and units.
  • Maintains accurate records, logs, and files of activities.
  • Provides excellent customer service at all times to residents, guests, contractors, employees.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and perform work without direct supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job is sufficient. Typical combinations of training and experience would be:

 

SUBSTITUTION:

Any combination of experience and education on a year for year basis up to a maximum of four years of responsible community or social service experience may be substituted for the education required provided that the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work, has been demonstrated and ascertained.

 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate will likely have knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of general principles of quality building and maintenance repair work. Experience in grounds/landscaping/tree trimming work.
  • Knowledge of general principles of quality building and maintenance repair work. Experience in grounds/landscaping/tree trimming work.
  • Knowledge of general principles of low-income or private sector property management; Public or assisted housing programs.
  • Knowledge in the use of smart phones, tablets, texting, calling, internet search and other electronic device functions. Effectively use information technology resources including personal computer, cellular devices and software applications. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel or other software programs, at a beginning to intermediate level.
  • Ability to interact professionally with the public, clients, staff, contractors and others. 
  • Willingness to learn and proficiently use the Agency’s work order and inventory management systems; learn and interpret Agency programs, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently; effectively cooperate and coordinate with team members and others; recognize the value of individual and cultural difference and create a work environment where individual’s differences are valued; effectively communicate with others both verbally and in writing.

 

EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate will likely have experience in residential or commercial landscaping, and performing basic maintenance tasks.

 

TRAINING:

The successful candidate will likely have a high school diploma or equivalent.

 

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Oregon vehicle driver’s license, and be insurable at standard rates.

 

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

 

COMPENSATION:

The pay range for this position $17.87 to $23.94 per hour ($37,169.60 to $49,795.20 per year) with a generous benefits package which includes paid health, dental and vision insurance for you and your family after one month of employment, along with life insurance and a 12% contribution of your monthly salary into a retirement account after 6 months of employment.

 

Homes for Good offers a family friendly environment with flexible scheduling options, generous paid time off (PTO) program starting at 17.33 hours per month and paid family leave.

 

BILINGUAL DIFFERENTIAL:

This position is eligible for a bilingual differential of 5.7% upon passing a written and oral proficiency exam. Candidates must be bilingual in English and Spanish to qualify for this differential.
