As the GHC prime contractor and household goods moving service integrator, we provide earlier visibility into upcoming moves and greater network throughput capacity—ensuring household goods shipments are picked up and delivered on time.About the RoleHomeSafe Alliance is seeking highly skilled and motivated Alternative Transportation Director who will be responsible for leading and managing the movement of government household goods across the country.POSITION DESCRIPTION : Oversee the movement of cargo across the country in accordance with organizational policy and procedure ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.Maintain a continuous improvement process to increase efficiencies and improve performance : Ensure personnel are trained, technically competent and well informed of changes in service requirements; Increase competency level of all logistics personnel to ensure quality, compliance, and outstanding service.Establish, monitor, revise, document, and communicate all directives, rules, and procedures to staff, including schedule of rates, shipment, booking process, and any other related information.Maximize profitability through superior service, effective and prompt communications, and follow-up of all pending matters with the customer, including changes, scheduling, new regulations, bonding / insurance requirements, and general industry expertise.Evaluate staff performance on a regular basis and annually through the employee appraisal process.Monitor workloads and adjust proactively to meet KPIs.Monitor timely responses to external / internal customers and other offices.Investigate, plan, and implement transport methods that are strategically effective and relevant, and which optimally meet the needs of the organization and its suppliers and customers.Conduct other tasks as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.Domestic freight experience : minimum 15 years.Management experience : minimum 10 years.Data-driven thinker and very comfortable with modern TMS systems; Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) experience is a plus.Thorough knowledge and understanding of domestic freight markets and operations.Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements.PREFERRED : Experience in Logistics and Transportation Industry and / or HHG Industry.Note : This position is fully remote / work from home.
