Position Overview:
Reporting to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, the Assistant General Counsel and Data Privacy Officer will be responsible for compliance, ethics, risk management and data privacy activities within HomeServe. Specifically, the individual will be expected to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and HomeServe’s Customer Promise, including by, among other things, promoting a culture of compliance and ethics; providing legal advice on applicable laws and regulations; maintaining, updating and implementing necessary policies, training and controls; managing the company’s enterprise risk management program and leading internal ethics investigations. The Assistant General Counsel and Data Privacy Officer will direct the company’s overall data privacy and protection program and advise on day-to-day privacy matters.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on laws and regulations impacting the business.
- Develop and manage policies and procedures, including the company’s anti-bribery and anti-corruption and data privacy and protection programs, to ensure compliance with applicable laws, and regulations and HomeServe’s Customer Promise.
- Advise the business on privacy and data protection laws, as well as AI regulations, and, as the company’s privacy officer, lead the company’s efforts in complying with all such laws and drive best practices within the company (including contracting practices and data retention and management initiatives).
- Oversee and progress HomeServe’s enterprise risk program and related assessments, compliance monitoring program, vendor management and ESG initiatives.
- Partner with management, business stakeholders and Legal and Compliance team members to identify and implement necessary improvements to processes and procedures to minimize risk and improve operational compliance.
- Lead investigations into ethics hotline reports and other complaints or concerns.
- Oversee training and awareness programs, including company-wide and employee-focused communications to promote a culture of compliance and ethics.
- Support internal and external auditors in audit/compliance reviews.
- Respond to, or assist other Legal and Compliance team members in responding to, customer concerns, regulatory inquiries and litigation.
- Prepare regular compliance and risk reports for the Board of Directors and other management reports as necessary.
- Mange a team of three legal, compliance and risk professionals

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working in a corporate legal or compliance department and/or law firm (big law firm experience a plus) with compliance, data privacy and investigations experience required. Litigation and/or corporate experience a plus.
- Strong research, legal analysis and communication skills.
- Ability to understand, analyze and interpret various state laws and regulations and effectively communicate highly complex information.
- Experience leading and/or directing the work of other employees.
- Must be proactive, responsive and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Must be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Travel up to 10%, as needed

Salary Range: $220,000 to $260,000
Annual Bonus Potential: 25%
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed, education, experience, travel requirements for the job, and/or other business and organizational needs.
