Position: Warehouse Assistant

Pay: Starting at $16.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time (7:30 am - 4:00 pm)
Job Summary:
As a Warehouse Assistant at Homestead Cabinets, you will manage the receiving, organization, and inventory of materials in the warehouse, supporting procurement activities for the Purchasing Manager. This role involves verifying shipments, building hardware kits, ensuring material availability for production, and preparing shipments for delivery. Additionally, you will assist in managing the transportation of parts between the main shop and the adjacent shop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving & Warehouse Organization: Accept, inspect, and verify incoming shipments (hardware, sheet goods, hardwood, doors) against purchase orders and invoices. Organize materials by job and ensure safe storage. Maintain a clean workspace and monitor inventory levels, reporting low-stock items. Use a forklift to transport materials and prepare shipments for delivery.
- Material Procurement & Purchase Orders: Coordinate with team members to determine material needs. Use Microvellum to process purchase orders and confirm vendor details. Communicate with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and verify material availability for hardware kits.
- Inventory & Verification: Verify material dimensions and quantities, maintain accurate logs, and ensure consistency with purchase orders. Return incorrect or damaged items to vendors. Assist with transporting jobs between warehouses as needed.
- General Warehouse Support: Assist with loading/unloading trailers, maintaining equipment (including forklifts), and ensuring proper material handling. Perform additional tasks as directed by the Purchasing Manager.
Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of inventory management, material procurement, and vendor communication.
- Proficiency in Google platforms, emailing software, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Forklift certified or willing to obtain certification through Homestead's training program.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted (heavier items with assistance).
- Ability to work in a noisy, dusty environment with protective equipment.
- Physical ability to squat, kneel, and climb stairs as needed.
- Excellent communication skills for internal and vendor interactions.
