Homestead Village of Pensacola currently has an opening for a weekend only LPN position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position is for weekends only. Ideal candidate will be available every weekend from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Must have a current State of Florida LPN license
- Position pay starts at $28 per hour, plus $5 per hour weekend differential pay.
- Responsible for advising personal care staff in Assisted Living & Memory Care Facility. Instills in employees the spirit of common courtesy and hospitality towards residents and fellow workers. Ensures that all operations are carried out within the established system and that company procedures are followed.
- Supervises and directs the activities of the Personal Care Assistants (PCA), Med Techs, and Certified Nurses’ Assistants (CNA), in providing assistance with activities of daily living, personal supervision, participation in social and leisure activities, and the provision of companionship and emotional support to residents.
- Responds to emergency/urgent situations in accordance with company's policies and procedures and state regulations.
- Supervises and assumes responsibility for assigned assistance with administration of medications, maintains oversight of legal documentation of the assistance with administration of medications, notifies pharmacies or family members one week before residents’ medication needs refilling or replacement, assists and supervises Medication Techs.
- Supervises and provides care of residents who are ill: immediately reports and documents unusual incidents to Administrator; notifies family, physicians, emergency personnel, and RCC or Administrator when necessary. Must be able and willing to assess and assist with residents who have fallen.
- Assures that telephones are politely answered at all times. Understands fire alarm system, sprinkler cut-off system, and emergency call system. Must be able to respond appropriately and contact on-call maintenance as necessary.
- Supervises locking of exterior doors and door security systems when necessary.
- Operates Assisted Living & Memory Care units in accordance with all local and state regulations and maintains standards of health, sanitation, and safety.
- Observes, monitors, and maintains records of resident health. Monitors ambient air temperature and adjusts thermostats for residents’ comfort and safety.
- Renders first aid to residents and staff when necessary.
- Performs any and all functions of Personal Care as needed and performs any other duties comparable to those stated above or as assigned by immediate supervisor.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with co-workers, residents, and residents' family members.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have current Florida licensure as an LPN.

Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job at an Assisted Living & Memory Care facility.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions when walking from cottage to cottage on campus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
