Homestead Village of Pensacola is currently seeking an LPN Supervisor. Position starts at $29 per hour for weekdays (Mon-Fri), with alternating weekends at $33 per hour. Must have a valid LPN license in the State of Florida.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To preserve Residents' Dignity of Life. To provide quality services to meet the physical, social, and mental needs of senior citizens. To portray a professional image of Homestead Village of Pensacola at all times, i.e., to be pleasant, courteous, and helpful, while maintaining an organized, neat, and clean environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical: Requires an employee in good physical condition who is dependable and honest. Must be free of any apparent signs or symptoms of infectious disease, which is likely to be transmitted to other residents or staff. Must have appropriate health qualifications, if any, as required by the Health Department. Physical activity includes, but is not limited to walking, bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions resulting in medium strength work. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must be certified as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) by the State of Florida. Must have all other certifications required by local and state regulations. Must have a minimum of three (3) years previous experience in supervisory capacity in a similar environment. Must have the ability to plan and implement Personal Care programs and policies, with the ability to work with and communicate with management, associates, and subordinates.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for advising personal care staff (PCAs/MedTechs/CNAs), while instilling the spirit of common courtesy and hospitality towards residents, residents' family members, and fellow employees.
- Ensure all operations are carried out within the established system and company procedures are followed.
- Supervise and direct the activities of personal care staff (PCAs/MedTechs/CNAs) who are responsible for providing assistance with the activities of daily living, personal supervision, participation in social and leisure activities, provision of companionship, and emotional support of the residents.
- Ensure all staff is properly uniformed to meet the required dress standards for Assisted Living Resident Services.
- Supervise and assume responsibility for assigned administration of medications, maintaining legal documentation of the administered medications, notifying pharmacies or family members one week before residents' medication needs refilling or replacement, and assist and supervise Medication Technicians (MedTechs).
- Supervise and provide care of residents who are ill: report and document unusual incidents to Administrator immediately. Notify family, physicians, emergency personnel, and Administrator when necessary. Must be able and willing to assess and assist with residents who have fallen.
- Ensure that telephones are answered politely at all times. Understand fire alarm systems, sprinkler cut-off systems, and emergency call system. Must be able to respond appropriately and contact on-call Maintenance Director as necessary.
- Supervise the locking of exterior doors and door security systems when necessary.
- Operate Assisted Living units in accordance with all local and state regulations, while maintaining standards of health, sanitation, and safety.
- Observe, monitor, and maintain records of resident health. Monitor ambient air temperature and adjust thermostats for residents' comfort and safety.
- Render first aid to residents and staff when necessary.
- Complete assigned probationary and annual employee performance evaluations as required by Human Resources.
- Perform any and all functions of Personal Care as needed. Perform any other duties comparable to those stated above or as assigned by immediate supervisor.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, as well as draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTATION:
Must have a current Florida licensure as an LPN. Must be able to pass an AHCA Level II background.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions when walking from cottage to cottage on campus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
