We are seeking a Food Safety/Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager for a rapidly growing meal service provider in Lewisburg, TN!
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Homestyle Direct (“HSD”) is an emerging and rapidly growing Food-as-Medicine home-delivered meal company dedicated to delivering high-quality, delicious, and healthy prepared meals to Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries nationwide. The company was founded in 1997 in Twin Falls, ID, where it has grown substantially and is expected to exceed $50M in revenue and $10M in EBITDA in 2024. The Company produced and transported ~6 million meals in 2023. Meals are currently procured, warehoused, assembled, packaged, labeled, frozen, and shipped from the company's HQ in Twin Falls, ID. However, due to recent growth, HSD plans to expand operations by opening an additional facility in the Southeastern United States in 2024.
The FSQA Manager has the overall responsibility of the Quality Assurance Department. The FSQA Manager will operate the Quality Assurance Department with the company goals of safe, quality food top of the mind while achieving the financial goals of Homestyle Direct. The FSQA Manager will ensure customer specifications are met through the development of our finished product by complying with all laws, policies and standards governing food safety and quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Validates quality processes and quality attributes; measures production; documents evidence; determines operational and performance qualification; updates quality assurance procedures.
- Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigates and analyzes trends of customer complaints.
- Conducts audits of facilities, suppliers, and vendors.
- Manages a food safety team, organizes its work, and ensures relevant training and education of the food safety team members.
- Ensures that the food safety management system is established, implemented, maintained, and updated, and reports to the organization's top management on the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system
- Prepares Food Safety, HACCP, and other management review meetings
- Reports and takes necessary action to prevent food safety, legality, and quality problems from occurring.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of food manufacturing management experience preferred
- SQF Practitioner, HACCP Certification, CQI Certification or Bachelors Degree in Food Science or related field are all preferred
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) is preferred
- Understanding of cleaning practices and procedures
- Experience developing SOP's and programs
- GFSI background
- Root cause and Corrective action implementation ability
- FDA/USDA (experience with inspections)
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
