Optician / Apprentice Optician

Hometown Eye Care is a small but very busy and growing optometry office seeking a full time Optician/Apprentice Optician. Must enjoy working with the public of all ages and have excellent customer service skills. The successful candidate will be friendly, professional, polite and extremely detail-oriented. This position includes performing all duties within optical with care and organization. Knowledge of optical products, electronic medical records, and vision insurance plans are highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities of the position will be:

• Preparing work orders for the optical laboratory, providing inventory control and tracking jobs sent to ensure they return in a timely manner.
• Ensuring the finished eyewear meets our optical and customer standards.
• Dispensing, adjusting, and repairing eyewear.
• Take precise and accurate measurements for pupillary distance, eye size, and temple length.
• Educate patients on the recommended choice for specific lenses and lens coatings to fit their personal needs. Provide kind and friendly advice on frame styles, colors etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $25.00 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)
• Computer Skills: 1 year (Preferred)
