Job Summary
The SBA Business Development Officer will be responsible for sourcing a government guaranteed loan pipeline, appropriate structuring of lending opportunities, loan pricing in accordance with the bank's guidelines and fee / premium strategy, providing initial credit analysis for lending activities, and SBA / USDA form processing. Primary responsibilities include active business development and origination of SBA real estate and non-real estate loan products in the business marketplace along with USDA Business and Industry Program loan products.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Serves as the outward facing representative of the bank regarding SBA and USDA Financing, and is the subject matter expert responsible for taking an initial application through the decisioning, closing, and funding stages of the loan process.
- Develops customer relationships, making sure they acquire loan, deposit, and other banking products appropriate to their circumstances, referring non-SBA / USDA opportunities to the appropriate bank partner.
- Analyzes the prospective client's financial statements, counsels client on credit record or other concerns, and assists in determining initial qualification of loan program.
- Collects required financial and other documentation required to process, underwrite, and close SBA loans with the assistance of internal credit and closing partners and the bank's loan service provider.
- Proactively and independently initiates business contacts to develop relationships and promote bank products and services.
- Develops and maintains a government guaranteed loan pipeline.
- Counsels customers on SBA / USDA business financing needs / process and other business services, completing detailed reviews of loan applications.
- Analyzes customer financial status, credit, and property evaluations against SBA / USDA program requirements to determine loan feasibility.
- Identifies opportunities for Commercial Lending, Treasury Management, and / or Retail to develop leads and referrals within existing portfolio and priority one customers / targets.
- Works with the Portfolio Manager for the collection of any outstanding financial, insurance, and documentation exceptions / items as needed for ongoing guarantee preservation and maintenance.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
