About the OrganizationFull-Time / Part-Time Full-Time Description Department : Homeless ServicesJob Title : Community Service Case ManagerReports to : AHOPE Program ManagerThe Organization : Homeward Bound is the leading nonprofit organization in Buncombe County focused on preventing and ending homelessness using the best practice Housing First model. We work collaboratively with community partners and have a proven track record of helping individuals and families achieve housing stability. Since 2006, Homeward Bound has moved more than 2,615 people off the streets, out of cars, camps, and shelters and into permanent housing.Position : AHOPE Day Center is a community based point of entry to the Buncombe County Homeless Services system. It is the front door to our agency and a pathway to permanent housing. A-HOPE provides basic services to include showers, mail, phone and personal storage. Advocates work to build relationships that lead community members out of homelessness and into permanent housing. The Community Service Case Manager is a source of support and guidance to community members experiencing homelessness in Asheville / Buncombe County. They are trained to assist community members with identifying barriers to housing stability, link community members to resources and teach skills needed to achieve long-term housing stability. Applicant should have experience working with the unhoused population, mental illnesses and / or substance abuse disorders. A Bachelor's degree in human services and experience working with high needs population is preferred or a high school diploma and comparable experience. Most importantly, applicants must have passion for the work and compassion for all people experiencing homelessness in our community, no exceptions.Location : AHOPE Day Center, 19 North Ann St, Asheville, NC 28801Schedule and compensation : This is a full time, non-exempt position with hourly compensation. $20.10 hourly.Position Requirements Education / Experience Requirements : Bachelors of Social Work or related degree; graduate degree or comparable experiencePrior experience with homeless population or populations with high clinical needsResponsibilities : Work with each community members to identify community resources to assist with housing stability.Set intake appointments with intake personnel to establish housing plans.Work with AHOPE staff to track daily attendance.Assist Coordinated Entry staff with data management.Ensure community member interactions are person-centered, goal-focused and reflect each community member's housing plan.Build professional relationships with community members, service providers, and community partners.Exercise patience, understanding, and concern for each community member's well-being, safety, development, and quality of life.Effectively use HUD tools and ensure compliance with data standards and record-keeping as required by HUD and Homeward Bound.Attend weekly case management meetings and other specified meetings / trainings as required.Effectively communicate in oral and written forms with community members, their families, significant others, coworkers, supervisors, other service agencies and the community.Display proficiency in operating a computer, fax machine, printer and copier.Participate in the daily cleaning and chores at AHOPE Day Center.Operations to include, but not limited to : daily attendance, locker runs, vouchers and referrals, crisis intervention, distribution of mail, distribution of meals
