What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Mover position at Homeward Bound of WNC?
We are looking for a strong and professional mover to join our team. You'll be responsible for providing our residential and commercial clients with excellent customer service through the entire moving process. You’ll safely load, transport, and unload the customers’ belongings. Schedule: Part-Time position Monday-Thursday 10 am-3 pm
- Arrange the moving truck with items that need to be moved
- Ensure no items are missing with coworkers and clients before leaving
- Check work orders and confirm moving preferences with the client
- Wrap furniture in protective material
- Carry a variety of large, heavy, and fragile items without damaging them
- Assist in handling donations, including pick-ups and deliveries
- Support case managers with move-ins, move-outs, and furniture requests
- Maintain organization throughout the donation center
- Promote Homeward Bound of WNC and its mission to end chronic homelessness
- Greet all donors in a friendly and helpful manner
- Computer experience is preferred
- Physical stamina requirements: standing, bending, and climbing stairs for long periods of time, and repeatedly lifting 50 pounds alone or 100 pounds with team members
- Applicants who have obtained a commercial driver’s license (CDL) are preferred, but not required
- Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but not required
- Applicant should be collaborative, reliable, and have excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 pounds; in the event that an item weighs more, employees will be provided assistance from other team members
- Ability to work with a team
- Be at least 18 years
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license (with no points)
