Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, in their daily activities. As a DSP, you will work closely with clients to assist them in achieving their personal goals while ensuring their safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Support individuals in social interactions and community engagement to foster social skills and relationships.
- Monitor and record vital signs as necessary, ensuring any changes in health are communicated to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients, adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, encouraging clients to express themselves and participate in various activities.
- Assist with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring clients as required while following proper safety protocols.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Engage clients in recreational activities that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of long-term care practices and dementia care techniques is beneficial.
- Ability to perform basic cooking tasks while adhering to dietary restrictions or preferences of clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and their families.
- Proficiency in monitoring vital signs and recognizing changes that may require attention.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
