Job Summary:

A very visible and public relation position in handling all telephone calls and acts as an information center for all residents, co-workers, and guests.

Essential Functions:

  1. Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
  2. Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
  3. Receives callers, determines nature of business and directs callers to the appropriate destination.
  4. Provides information or directs inquiries to the appropriate person in a professional and polite manner. Handles requests for information in a positive/professional manner.
  5. Separates and sorts mail.
  6. Responsible for issuing receipts for payments and contributions which are received at the front desk and preparing a daily reconciliation sheet.
  7. Types memos, correspondences, reports and other documents as requested by department heads.
  8. Keeps inventory of office supplies.
  9. Enters information on the computer concisely, accurately and completely as directed by the supervisor.
  10. Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  1. Requires tact, finesse, and a gracious spirit in meeting the requests and/or complaints in a manner reflective of Homewood’s philosophy.
  2. Keyboard speed of 40 wpm; ability to use computer and word processing software; knowledge of office style manual.
  3. Ability to read, write and understand English well.
  4. Has compassion, understanding and empathy for older persons.
  5. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  6. Ability to communicate to residents at a level they can understand.
  7. Basic math skills.
  8. Ability to respond in a cheerful, pleasant, and professional manner to the public, and enjoys working with the public
  9. Ability to adjust priorities from one demand to another.

Physical Requirements:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer. This position has physical and mental aspects of sedentary work in which lifting requirements are minimal. Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or operate computers, objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
