Job Summary:
Responsible for implementing the Nursing Care Center and/or Assisted Living admissions process including inquiries, interviewing and providing tours to prospective residents and placing new admissions within the facility in an expedient manner to achieve the facility’s targeted occupancy levels.
Essential Functions:
- Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as confidential information.
- Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with referral and support services in the community.
- Interviews and provides tours to prospective residents and their family/representative(s) reviewing the variety of services offered by Homewood.
- Prepares prospective residents for placement in accordance with Homewood’s policies and Federal and State laws.
- Coordinates pre-admission approval with all third party insurance carriers for proper payment source. Provides information to third party insurance carriers and other agencies for residents, applicants and family to ensure authorization.
- Reviews and responds to information from referral sources on prospective residents, working with the interdisciplinary team to determine financial and clinical eligibility for admission to the community.
- Provides a basic orientation to the facility for the resident and family/representative(s).
- Works with all departments in providing a smooth admissions process.
- Maintains a working knowledge of regulations and policies pertaining to admissions.
- Assists the Social Services Coordinator assisted living department and the nursing department with internal resident transfers.
- Participates in the development and implementation of advertising, promotional material and marketing strategies.
- Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in health care related field preferred and/or equivalent experience in long term care field.
- Ability to read, write and understand English well.
- One year experience in long term care working with geriatric persons.
- Has an understanding of Medicare/Medicaid regulations as well as basic nursing terminology.
- Has compassion, understanding and empathy for older persons.
- Must have qualities of leadership, initiative and dependability.
- Ability to communicate to residents at a level they can understand.
- Conveys a professional image to residents and the public.
Physical Requirements:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer. This position has physical and mental aspects of sedentary work in which lifting requirements are minimal. Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or operate computers, objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
