JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Fitness Operations Supervisor, the RFC Personal Fitness Trainer will design personalized fitness programs tailored to specific goals of clients. This includes providing fitness assessments, training with clients, and re-evaluating client progress on a continuing basis. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- Represent RFC in a positive manner.
- Assess needs of client; subjectively and objectively.
- Select and interpret evaluative tests.
- Keep certifications current.
- Develop long and short-term goals for each individual client and follow-up as needed.
- Describe, demonstrate and evaluate the execution and performance of selected exercises.
- Describe and defend rationale for exercise selection and program design.
- Generate and track new clients through orientation process.
- Submit all clients’ contracts to the front desk for approval and processing.
- Keep personal training area organized and safe.
- Cooperate with other trainers and clients occupying personal training area.
- Keep Fitness Operations Supervisor informed on all matters pertaining to efficient and effective operation of program.
- Arrive on time to all scheduled appointments.
- Attend personal training staff meetings.
- Attend trainer development meetings.
- Promote personal training special events as well as Fitness Center programs.
- Inform clients of all Fitness Center and program rules/policies.
- Promote positive team atmosphere.
- Generate enthusiasm and motivation for fitness clients.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual, Policy and Procedures Handbook and Employee Manual.
- Other related job duties as assigned.
COGNITIVE SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to problem solve in response to clients' needs.
- Ability to judge situations that require assistance and respond appropriately.
- Ability to communicate effectively with proper vocabulary and appropriate techniques to check comprehension and technique of client.
Qualifications
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 20 years of age.
- Prescribe a fitness regimen.
- Knowledge of exercise physiology and biomechanics of movements.
- Understand equipment in fitness center and demonstrate proper and correct usage
- Work well with clients and other personal training staff.
- Overall knowledge of what is current in fitness industry, keeping abreast of new trends.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Current nationally recognized certification for personal fitness training. Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education or related field preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
STANDING: Extended periods of time in Fitness Center and demonstrations and mechanics
SITTING: Minimal - when required for demonstrations
WALKING: Some - must be able to demonstrate treadmill
LIFTING: Some - must be able to demonstrate machines that involve lifting a bar or weights
REACHING: Must be able to demonstrate machines that include reaching bar
CLIMBING: Must be able to demonstrate stair-climbing machine
VERBAL: Must be able to communicate effective and proper instructions
VISION: Must be able to visually assess clients' form during exercise instruction and participation
