JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Community Center Manager and direction of Preschool Teacher, it is the Preschool Teacher Aide's responsibility to assist in providing a favorable learning atmosphere for preschool aged children. The H-F Park District’s mission statement is “to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment”.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- Conduct the preschool curriculum for the year in conjunction with the other Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Preschool Teachers, Preschool Teacher Aides, and the guidelines.
- Continue to provide a quality of teaching that is in compliance with the high standards of the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District preschool program.
- Set up and clean up all your equipment each day as required by the facility used.
- Responsible for care and cleaning of preschool toys.
- Comply with all part-time personnel policies.
- Be present 30 minutes prior to the start of class and 30 minutes after the end of class.
- Consistent teacher attendance is required.
- Assist in upholding the policies of the school.
- Make suggestions for ordering supplies and equipment.
- Attend all open house events outside of classroom hours.
- Attend additional and educational seminars and workshops at recommendation of Community Center Manger.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures outlined in the Safety Manual.
- Other related job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Associate’s degree or some course work in early childhood education preferred.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
STANDING: Extended periods of time while instructing
SITTING: Minimal
WALKING: Frequently - supervision of children, walking to playgrounds
LIFTING: Occasional - supplies, child up to 50 lbs.
STOOPING: Frequently - assisting children with class work
REACHING: Frequently - supplies in cabinets, hanging pictures, bulletin boards
CLIMBING: Occasional storage
VERBAL: Communicate with groups and one on one
VISION: Write, type, read, supervise children and their safety.
