What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Coordinator position at Homeworld Collective?
Background:
About Homeworld Collective: Homeworld Collective is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to fostering the growth of climate biotech and strengthening its interconnections with other climate tech fields. Our ethos is action-oriented optimism about climate change: we believe that if we take action, we will get better outcomes. Our core method is to synthesize actionable knowledge through community engagement, communicate that knowledge to lift all boats, and empower practitioners to pursue solutions toward a thriving biosphere.
Since our founding, we have laid the foundation for growth through initiatives including our Problem Statement Repository, inaugural Garden Grants funding round on protein engineering, and our 2024 focus on greenhouse gas removal. We have a strong trajectory towards programs in geobiotechnology and lead pollution. As we enter a new phase of growth, the Operations Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting our operations and enabling leadership to focus on strategic and organizational development.
Job Description:
At Homeworld, our view on operations is “Breathe in chaos, breathe out systems.” This role will be crucial for building internal systems, maintaining workflows, administrative support, and throwing weight behind strategic initiatives. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn and get their hands dirty alongside other members of their team as we build an incredible organization together.
This is a wonderful opportunity to impact an early stage organization as we grow in scope and complexity! This role will touch our activities in HR, finance, research, community building, and marketing. Depending on your background and interests, we are also open to you leveraging creativity and design skills to support areas you are passionate about.
The ideal candidate is someone who has experienced the fluid, scrappy nature of an early stage organization. We are a growing organization, with 6 current team members and a suite of contractors – everyone wears many hats, but we are specializing as the team grows. The Operations Coordinator will work closely with the Operations Lead and other team members to develop and streamline our processes as we build them.
Key Details
This is a full-time, fully-remote position, with :10 potential travel days per year.
