Ice Operations Supervisor
Pay Details :
The starting hourly rate range for this position is $26.00 to $32.50 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will take internal value, peer equity, job-related factors, and other organizational considerations into account.
The Ice Operations Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Ice Operations Manager and the operations management team with the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the ice sheet to the standards set forth by the NHL. This role will help maintain ice conditions and upkeep of all ice-related equipment and components to ensure an NHL quality playing environment. The Ice Operations Supervisor works closely with operations, maintenance and engineering departments to ensure we are operating at optimum levels for all building events across all venues. In addition, this position assists in supervising operations staff and works with the EMOD and promoter on event day setups. This person must be a motivated self-starter with excellent supervisorial skills and the ability to respond quickly.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, painting, and removal of the ice sheet to NHL standards, including making adjustments as needed throughout the year, ordering supplies, and creating a schedule for labor
- Assist with the coordination, installation and removal of the ice sheet for special ice-related events
- Operate the ice resurfacer for all Ducks home games and practices, in addition to ice-related events
- Regularly operate the edger and other ice maintenance tools to maintain the ice sheet at NHL quality
- Provide general maintenance and upkeep of the Zamboni ice resurfacers, including regularly changing out of blades, keeping machines clean, and scheduling regular preventative maintenance
- Maintain logbooks for reference on regular ice maintenance, including but not limited to ice resurfacer maintenance, edger maintenance, depth reports, daily ice maintenance duties, water quality, and temperature
- Maintain a high level of quality in ice-related standards for NHL and other ice related events
- Perform inspection and maintenance on arena equipment; inspect and repair dasher system components, monitor rink glass conditions, and maintain sufficient material inventory for emergency glass replacement; document all changes to playing environment for proof of meeting standards
- Work closely with the engineering department on maintaining proper building conditions through the ice plant
- Ensure that ice is in excellent condition following conversion from another event to ice and make repairs to the ice sheet as necessary; document conditions following each conversion to address potential problem areas
- Responsible for day-to-day work and event setups across all locations
- Oversee cleanliness of arena interior and exterior perimeter
- Assist with shipping and receiving procedures in addition to logistics for transporting equipment to and from the warehouse
- Work closely with Event Manager, promoter and event crew to ensure event setup needs are met for each event at every location in a timely manner
- Assist in setting up all components of a show at each venue, including but not limited to stage, floor chairs, barricade, court, pipe and drape, dashers, glass, etc.
- Work with maintenance, engineering and conversion departments when ice is not in use
- Communicate well with other departments within operations to determine event-specific responsibilities for each event
- Ensure all staff is working safely and communicate any safety concerns to the department manager on duty and the Safety / Health Compliance Manager
- Create and implement operational procedures and guidelines to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Train, mentor, and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance
- Manage and resolve any operational issues that arise, ensuring minimal impact on business operations
