Fresh, cheerful, and always delicious, Honey & Rye, a neighborhood bakery since 2013, is looking for an experienced, organized leader to manage bakery operations for our growing business.

Our Director of Bakery Operations is tasked with ensuring the efficient and profitable performance of the business, including bakery production, bakehouse, staff management and the execution of business priorities as directed by the company’s Mission, Vision and Values set forth by the Founder.

DUTIES
Production
- Create pastry & bread production schedule, including integration of wholesale production, special orders, events & menu changes.
- Manage holiday production and process in collaboration with Retail & Beverage Manager and Kitchen Manager.
- Create & maintain efficient standard operating procedures for back-of-house production.
- Support Kitchen Manager & Leads in implementing production schedule.
- Support Operations Team in the event of emergencies or call outs to ensure production and delivery are on schedule.
- Set expectations for quality control and product standards.
- Maintain consistency in baking formulas.
- Collaborate with Research & Development Lead Baker to develop new menu items.
- Prioritize the use of seasonal & local ingredients.
Management
- Leadership, management, and accountability of the operations team, including but not limited to training and development, performance evaluations, goal-setting, task management & discipline.
- Create & implement standard operating procedures across all locations.
- Routine auditing of processes to ensure efficiency.
- Manage quarterly department priorities, delegate and support progress.
- Ensure operational costs conform to budget.
- Support employee health, wellness, and career growth.
- Respond to back-of-house staff needs in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.
- Participate in hiring of operations staff in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Ensure on-going compliance with kitchen policies and procedures.
- Set expectations for an efficient work pace among staff.
- Facilitate courageous conversations between managers & staff.
Operations
- Oversee inventory management.
- Coordinate with Retail & Beverage Manager & Kitchen Manager to ensure successful execution of wholesale accounts, special orders, holidays, menu changes, and special events.
- Implement policies & procedures that ensure the optimal utilization of staff and resources.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
- Lead weekly meetings with the operational team.
- Engage in the ongoing maintenance of buildings & equipment.
Customer Service & Hospitality
- Ensure a positive environment for staff, guests, and vendors.
- Ensure quality of product & service meets company standards.
- Ensure service standards are being executed consistently & across all locations.
- Manage wholesale customer communication in collaboration with the Director of Administration.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years experience in a similar role
- 4 years managerial experience in a food service environment
- 4 years scratch baking experience
- 2 years artisan bread and viennoiserie experience
- 2 years experience with google sheets or equivalent
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including ability to communicate directly and effectively.
- Dependable, flexible and team-oriented.
- Commitment to executing company Mission, Vision and Values
- Obtain MN Certified Food Protection Manager

SALARY
starting at $62,500
