As the Metals Commodity Manager (Lead Strategic Sourcing Specialist), you will be accountable for driving the procurement of materials and services related to metals, metal salts, metal derivatives, and other specialty chemicals as per the Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Plan. You will have global/regional responsibility for driving competitive commodity and category supply strategies to achieve the lowest total cost, reduced working capital, and ensure supply continuity. This role requires strong negotiation skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic global environment. You will ensure compliance with company business policies and procedures, as well as export/import regulations.
You will report directly to our Director Strategic Sourcing and you will work out of our Charlotte NC, Rosemont IL, or Des Plaines IL locations on a hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will impact the company by driving performance-driven commodity and category supply strategies, managing supplier performance, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. You will also contribute to the growth and success of the business by identifying cost-saving opportunities, implementing value engineering initiatives, and eliminating sole/single sources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive and execute the Annual and Strategic Plan with assisting strategies
- Ensure the right and fast execution of strategies to align with business growth and new product introductions
- Manage category and commodity strategies, including spend thoughtfulness, benchmarking, cost and market thoughtfulness, and global technology/economic trends
- Build new relationships with key supplier guide
- Work with Sales, Marketing, Technology, Business, Operations, Finance, and other Honeywell businesses
- Guide supplier selection, RFQ and RFI process, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance processes
- Apply effective sourcing supplier risk assessment methodologies to ensure supplier continuity
- Improve working capital through payment terms extensions, payment cycle optimization, and vendor-managed inventories
- Drive inventory and guide time reductions

- Support and help shape the organization's metal hedging strategy, including working closely with engineering, suppliers and internal stakeholders to mitigate pricing volatility and manage risk associated with commodity markets.
