As a Principal Certification Engineer (TSO Specialist Mechanical Systems / ODA Engineering Unit Member), you will provide compliance expertise and certification oversight for the development and certification of new and modified products. You will collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace Technology engineering teams to create and certify products and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will participate with the engineering development teams in all phases of product development leading to successful certifications and will be a coach and mentor to less experienced engineers.

Ability to travel up to 25%. This position will report directly to the Sr. Technical Engineering Manager of Certification in Phoenix, AZ
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews and approves certification documents and processes in accordance with appropriate regulations and industry standards
Witness certification compliance testing
Perform and / or supports compliance reviews with regulations, Special Conditions / Issue Papers, and / or contractual obligations
Mentor Certification Specialist candidates and participate in evaluation panels
Provide certification guidance to product groups for regulatory compliance
Represent Honeywell in certification discussions with customer and certification authorities
Adhere to Honeywell ODA and / or TSO Procedures Manuals in performing your compliance finding duties
Initial on-the-job training is required to obtain a TSO Specialist (Mechanical Systems) and / or ODA Engineering Unit Member delegation, if not already certified. Other training for ODA and TSO Specialist delegations in Software, Systems, Safety, Environmental (EMI / HIRF / lighting), Detail Design, Block Testing, Vibration Analysis, Safety Analysis, Operation, Overhaul, and Service documents, may be required.

YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
6 years of experience in software, systems, hardware, quality engineering or field experience
WE VALUE
Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
Knowledge of Engine / APU systems (engineering experience in Engine / APU product lines is a strong differentiator for this position)
Significant experience working with the Certification Authorities
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and related guidance
Thorough knowledge of certification standards such as software (DO-178x), hardware (DO-254), Environmental Qualification (DO-160) or system certification (ARP-4754x) with enough understanding to mentor and train others for a compliance finding position (such as TSO Specialist or ODA Unit Member)
Understanding of many of the relevant certification guidance materials (such as Advisory Circulars, Issue Papers, etc.) as applied to area of expertise and the ability to expand knowledge through research, training and application
Excellent English language skills required and excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
Meet any applicable Export License conditions for given project
Be self-directing and willing to work with various internal and global groups
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
