We are seeking an Advanced Trapped Ion Physicist in our Broomfield, CO or Golden Valley, MN locations who has a deep understanding of ion trapping, cooling, and internal state manipulation and experience implementing various functions such as quantum gates and transport of a quantum computing architecture.

Key Responsibilities:
Apply previous experience with trapped ions to design, develop functionality for, integrate, and/or operate QCCD-based (quantum charge-coupled device) trapped ion quantum computers.
Contribute to current and future quantum computing architectures by developing basic concepts, functionality, and subsystems
Contribute to the organization's technical roadmap; supporting architecture development and refinement; and/or developing operating procedures and maximizing reliability, accessibility, maintainability, and safety.
YOU MUST HAVE:
PhD completed prior to starting
Minimum 4 years' experience (Ph.D.-inclusive) working with trapped ions
Applicants for employment for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Quantinuum. (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status)
WE VALUE :
Experience implementing and troubleshooting high-fidelity two-qubit quantum gates with trapped ions utilizing laser- or microwave-driven mechanisms
Experience implementing and optimizing multi-ion, junction, and/or diabatic transport with minimal motional heating
Experience with novel methods for direct and sympathetic cooling of ions
A previous history of work specifically tied to the QCCD architecture and/or general scaling of trapped ion quantum computers
Extensive and demonstrable hardware skills related to integral subsystems of trapped ion quantum computers including lasers, optics, radio frequency and microwave analog electronics, digital control electronics, ultrahigh vacuum, cryogenics, etc.
Excellent simulation, modeling, and coding experience to support experiment design, execution, and analysis
Ability to carefully and clearly record experimental results and synthesize these into meaningful reports for distribution to peers and technical leaders
Excellent written and oral communication skills with peer-reviewed publications within the quantum computing literature
Strong organizational and leadership skills; demonstrated through effective project management and execution

Salary Range: $112,640.00/ yr. to $140,800.00/yr.
