There is an immediate opening for a Director – Project Controls within Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technology (PMT) Engineering and Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) organization. PMT is a $11Bn Stretegic Business Group within Honeywell while HPS is a $5Bn Strategic Business Unit within PMT managing over $2 Bn of project portfolio from inception to completion through Strategic and Annual planning and execution.
The Director – Project Controls will report directly to the PMT Project Controls Leader with a matrix relationship to the Chief Financial Officer of HPS and will be based preferably in Houston, TX. The position will manage a global team of (5) direct and total team size of 100 professionals that include project cost and schedule management.
This is a key position within PMT that represents a critical delivery point of our portfolio for global operations, technology, and Lines of Businesses within HPS. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong partnership with the Project Operations, Execution and other stakeholders in Supply Chain and Finance to drive project and portfolio controls ensuring PMT manages & delivers their projects in budget, on schedule and with high customer experience.
The Director - Project Controls will provide portfolio management leadership, vision and best practices to ensure HPS delivers its projects to its customers in a manner that reinforces and demonstrates our priorities while maximizing economic value for Honeywell. The position will oversee the project controls management operating system (MOS), providing visibility of both risk and opportunity associated with the HPS project portfolio, made up of approximately $2Bn spread across over 5000 projects annually, through effective cost reporting, scheduling and risk management.
The role will be accountable for all matters pertaining to the control and management of the project portfolio in accordance with Honeywell standards, HSE guidelines, quality, schedule and financial goals to create superior financial value for the business. It is the responsibility of this leader to develop teams that own all aspects of the project controls working collaboratively with functions and internal & external stakeholders to deliver the best-in-class results and value to the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Functionally, the position is responsible for management of all Project Controls Organization (PCO), including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, allocation, administration and professional development. Uniform and consistent deployment of Project Control processes globally and driving key metrics of Project Controls like Estimate of Completion ‘EAC’/Deviations, Change Orders, Reviews, Forecasting, Unbilled, and Project Controls billability are key activities performed by this role. The position actively collaborates and works closely with the Line of Business (LOB) global leaders to implement the organization, work processes, data structures and technology for Project Controls.
•Leads a global Project Planning and Control (PP&C) team in delivering exceptional value to our customers and organization. Drive project and portfolio management excellence in support of the Project Management Organization’s goals. Ensure cross-functional alignment through clear and documented processes and procedures.
•Manages a team of managers and specialists responsible for effective Project Controls to achieve business results for Honeywell. Ensure portfolio program management processes are implemented appropriately.
•Supports Honeywell business and program management leaders to ensure data integrity by enforcing compliance to management operating system and processes.
•Leads Program Planning and Control (PP&C) initiatives, deployment, and implementation consistent with the strategic business and Center of Excellence priorities.
•Drives continuous improvement via new tools to assist project/portfolio managers in more efficiently executing the HPS project portfolio
•Project Cost & Schedule Control: Governance and compliance of SAP project standards on all project controls activities; Governance of standard project reporting including dashboards, cost reports, schedules, and steering team documentation
•Is responsible for ensuring periodic maintenance and updating of procedures, standards and document control databases
•Coaches and develops employees, including direct and matrix reports
•Develops succession planning, talent roadmaps and employee development plans
