The General Counsel for Honeywell’s Labor & Employment group in the Corporate Law Department is responsible for all legal affairs related to Honeywell’s worldwide defined contribution and non-disability employee welfare plans, policies and programs (“Employee Benefits”). This position also provides legal guidance and operational support for employee benefit issues for the Company’s mergers and acquisitions.
This position provides legal counsel and assistance to the Compensation & Benefits, Investments, HR Services, Payroll, Procurement and Mergers & Acquisitions Departments and the various operating teams to ensure maximum protection of the legal rights of the Employee Benefits, and to ensure operations remain within the limits prescribed by law, the relevant plan documents, collective bargaining agreements, vendor contracts, and acquisition or divestiture agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of the Employee Benefits’ legal matters across diverse areas of responsibility.
- Dispute resolution and litigation efforts and strategy, including management of outside counsel as appropriate.
- Supervision and if necessary, participation in, key vendor negotiations.
- Remaining current with federal, state, and local judicial decisions, laws, and other regulations affecting the Employee Benefits’ operations and providing appropriate guidance, particularly regarding the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, relevant sections of the Internal Revenue Code, the Affordable Care Act and related regulations and policies.
- Acting as liaison with Honeywell senior leaders in relevant legal matters of interest to the company.
- Provision of legal counsel in a wide variety of relevant matters including employment, tax, and procurement.
