Honeywell Aerospace
Materials Engineering is seeking a Senior Advanced Materials Engineer. This
position will be based out of the Glendale, AZ facility and support both local
design and manufacturing activities as well as global Aero materials and
process engineering activities. This is a challenging, multi-dimensional leadership
role that requires the individual to multitask across several concurrent task
assignments. The position will operate
within a global Materials Engineering team, working in partnership with other engineers
located primarily at the Glendale & Clearwater FL facilities to support the
Space business.
The successful
candidate will have the responsibility to ensure designs for assigned programs
meet customer requirements. The
individual will be performing material engineering tasks associated with the
development, design, manufacture, and test of momentum control and guidance
systems/sub-components to support the Space & Defense business. Responsibilities will include the review of
customer- and Honeywell-generated requirements to ensure cost effective
approaches and to verify performance and environmental requirements are met, preparation
of proposal inputs, development of material and process control plans, specifications,
corrosion control plans, Materials Identification and Usage Lists, drawing
reviews, NSMAR’s and other contract deliverable items associated with the
Materials Engineering role.
In addition to the
Design support role, the candidate will also be expected to lead Materials
Engineering activities for process/product problem resolution, which can range
from problem solving on the production floor to support of large-scale failure
investigation activities. The candidate
is expected to have a breadth of materials knowledge and the ability
develop/drive test plans, coordinate with other Subject Matter Experts across a
wide range of disciplines and provide technical guidance to internal and external
customers to ensure products meet the reliability requirements for the Space
business.
The successful
candidate will also be expected to be able to perform as an expert in multiple
Special Process areas such as Heat Treat, Chem Process, Welding, PB, PBA,
Cables & Harness, etc. In this role,
the candidate will provide technical expertise to solve process issues, perform
technical auditing at Honeywell sites and suppliers and perform process
witnessing for critical manufacturing processes.
