Position Summary
Process Engineer performs
engineering related functions for site operations pertaining to electrolytic
refining, melting, thermal/mechanical metal processing and machining processes. Incumbent should require minimal
supervision and provide technical and engineering services to production
departments and customers to improve processes, resolve quality issues, reduce
costs and develop new products/processes. Process Engineer may be assigned to multiple
area(s) and typically manage several projects related to that area at any given
time. Projects and corresponding
responsibilities will usually fall into one of the following categories:
process control, process/product characterization, process optimization and capital
projects including site’s automation initiatives. Process Engineer will need to
apply fundamental principles of science, engineering and statistics to complete
some of these assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Track/monitor refining process for quality, yield and productivity performance. Optimize the current process to improve quality and reduce costs.
Review in-process data routinely to identify problems and initiates appropriate corrective actions. Identify and define process conditions necessary to optimize process performance.
Maintain and improve Statistical Process Control (SPC) programs for area(s) of responsibility. Track baseline performance through process characterization and related data analysis.
Identify, implement and maintain cost saving initiatives. Lead Continuous Improvement Programs (CI) for related area(s) and draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Identify and execute capital projects including automation initiatives to improve HSE, quality, plant capacity and reliability while lowering operating costs.
Develop and maintains strong working relationships with all internal/external customers and suppliers. Provide technical support to them and mediate engineering issues with them.
Document all work and communicate results and/or project status to appropriate departments via monthly reports or meetings. Give presentations related to area(s) of responsibility as required.
