Position Information

Information Specialist II Contract (SR-24)

Office of the Chief

Example of Duties :

  • Gathers information, determines what is appropriate for release, and writes news releases.
  • Evaluates and responds to a variety of inquiries from the news media and public, which involves research, interpretation and some explanation of the Honolulu Police Department polices, programs, and operations.
  • Assist in developing and publishing engaging content across various social media platforms by gathering information, capturing or curating digital media, and creating captions for photos, videos, and graphics.
  • Assists in preparing for news conferences by gathering information, drafting statements, arranging for news media attendance, and preparing the speaker to answer questions from the news media.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Training and Experience :

A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field AND,

Grade II :

Three years of professional experience in researching, analyzing, organizing and preparing written information for dissemination to the print and broadcast news media.
