Brown Industrial Construction is a heavy civil construction company specializing in Clearing & Grubbing, Excavation & Embankment, Sub-Surface Drainage, Material Placement, Soil Stabilization, Concreted Paving, Deep Foundations, Bridge Construction, & related Structural Concrete. We are seeking an experienced Full-Time Survey Party Chief to be responsible for project survey layouts, programming GPS equipment for machine control applications, capturing of as-built data, & assisting Field Supervisors with the interpretation of survey data.
The Survey Party Chief is responsible for project survey layouts, programming GPS equipment for machine control applications, capturing of as-built data, & assisting Field Supervisors with the interpretation of survey data.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts (Ex : forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hangers and supports, etc.).
- Provide checking of “as built” conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
- Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
- Maintain condition and adjustment of surveying equipment.
- Coordinate surveying activities with the assigned engineer to meet the construction requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to use all the surveying equipment and techniques essential.
- Ability to accurately read blueprints and calculate shapes (geometric, etc.).
- Perform additional related assignments as directed by supervisor.
- Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Don safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.). As required by client’s site; must be clean, shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment. Works from heights in a variety of manners (ladders, lifts, harnesses, etc.).
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.).
