POSITION/ TITLE: Assistant Shelter Manager - Dutchess County
SUPERVISED BY: Shelter Manager -Dutchess County
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Shelter Manager (SM), the Assistant Shelter Manager (ASM) will have responsibility for the Dutchess County Shelter. The ASM will manage the fast-paced day to day activities of the Shelter which involves creating and managing program content and initiatives; responding to the needs of individuals who are residing in HONOR’s Dutchess County Shelter. S/he must have full working knowledge of all Dutchess County Shelter policy and procedures as well as the NYS OTDA and Department of Community and Family Services (DCFS) regulations and ensures all Shelter operational programs are in compliance. Commitment to operating within a trauma-informed workplace that demonstrates a balance of kindness, competence and care toward self, colleagues, and populations served. This position is responsible for being on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide leadership, supervision, and direct support to the Shelter Team. The ASM will support, implement, and promote the Agency’s Vision, Mission and Credo. Must be flexible with schedule to meet the needs of the program / regulatory requirements and the clients which will include some evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

1. Bachelor’s Degree with three years’ experience in Human Service Field with at least one-year supervisory experience.
2. Ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work with residents, staff, and support agencies.
3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, other Agencies, and the public.
4. Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with demonstrated passion for HONOR’s mission.
5. Detail oriented and have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills (friendly, courteous, helpful, ability to work as part of a team).
6. Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility. Uses diplomacy and tact when dealing with and interacting with others. Diffuses tension. Fosters collegial and cooperative attitudes. Works effectively to achieve common goals.
7. Strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, and coaching a strong team of staff.
8. Ability to use MS Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record
9. Bi-lingual a plus
10. Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license.
Job Type: Full-time
