the Resident Counselor (RC) provides “Hope Through Hospitality” and will support the needs of individuals who are experiencing homelessness, providing provisions of basic needs, and creating a safe and secure residential living environment. The RC provides non-judgmental compassion and care by listening to client’s concerns and providing non-directive counseling. The RC acts as a role model, guiding residents and facilitating appropriate behaviors such as daily living skills, self-care, personal interactions, social relationships, constructive time management, following program policies and procedures. Commitment to operating within a trauma-informed workplace that demonstrates a balance of kindness, competence and care toward self, colleagues, and populations served. Must be flexible with schedule to meet the needs of the residents which will include evenings, weekends and Holidays. Additional hours may be required to meet program regulations, contract obligations and client needs.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

1. HS Diploma or GED
2. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility.
3. Must be detail oriented and have competent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities (friendly, courteous, helpful, ability to work as part of a team).
4. Ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work with residents, staff, and support agencies.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Word; Outlook; Experience working with an Electronic Health Record a Plus
6. On a continuing basis, stand, sit, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and reach, and lift and carry weight of twenty-five pounds or less while assisting residents with daily living skills, housekeeping, etc.
7. Bilingual preferred.
