- A skilled mechanic with 1 year of experience in automotive mechanics is required for this role. Basic tooling and wiring instrumentation tools are necessary.
Job Summary:
- The Technician I will install test equipment in development vehicles, including thermocouples, transducers, sensors, fiber optics, and accelerometers.
- This role involves building, modifying, adjusting, and calibrating installed devices.
- The technician will work on low voltage wire harnesses to drawings and schematics, collaborate with customers, fabricators, and mechanics to identify sensor installation locations, and assist in performing functional inspections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and install low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses, auxiliary battery, and electrical systems.
- Install, adjust, and calibrate sensors, shunts, fiber optics, accelerometers, and data acquisition systems.
- Collaborate with customers, fabricators, and mechanics to identify required locations for sensor installation.
- Assist in performing complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation.
- Diagnose faulty low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring systems and repair.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of mechanic experience, personal or professional.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate in Automotive Technology or related field.
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s).
- State Mechanic Certification(s).
- Valid driver's license.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Familiarity with procedures and work instructions.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and time management skills.
