What are the responsibilities and job description for the Indirect Supervision Officer position at Hood County Human Resources?
INDIRECT SUPERVISION OFFICER
NORMAL WORKWEEK: 40 hours, occasional overtime required.
OVERALL PURPOSE:
*Indirect supervision officers are considered professionals and will supervise offenders placed on community supervision by the courts, who reside outside of this jurisdiction.
*They will staff violations of community supervision with the department Director or his designee.
*They will work to protect the community.
*Indirect supervision officers will strive to assist the offender by holding them accountable to ensure compliance with the conditions of probation as ordered by the court. Further, they are to serve as a broker of services for those in need of additional resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
*Conduct an intake with all offenders who will be residing outside of our jurisdiction.
*Thoroughly document supervision case files including computer entries.
*Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the department Director and/or Area Supervisors.
*Accurately prepare Reports of Violation and Amended Orders.
*Have a clear understanding of Community Supervision terminology.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
*High school diploma or equivalent.
*Valid Texas driver’s license required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
*Typing and computer knowledge required.
*Good command of the English language.
*Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
*Ability to manage time wisely and work independently.
*Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, colleagues and other agencies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
*Must be able to pull open and push filing cabinets shut.
*Must be able to lift or grasp files from and return files to their secured locations. Bending is often required in this process.
