What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT System Administrator position at Hood Industries, Inc.?
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for developing and maintaining disaster recovery measures, maintaining and validating backups (including support of SAN Storage). Provides support in the data centers along with essential resolution of all requests, issues and repairs. Performs system checks, monitoring, servicing, of all Appliances and managing the networks by securing access to resources, maintaining server equipment and monitoring network performance. He/she may perform network management, as they manage Remote Access Administration Globally and IP-VPN. Additional functions include network systems service and support, incident handling and recording, evaluation and documentation keeping all documentation current. Monitor and respond to vendor provided security alerts, remediating as needed. Works closely with the Network and Systems Team to insure efficient, stable and secure operations.

- Server and Storage Hardware and Software Configuration, Administration
- Backup Administration
- SQL Server and DB Administration
- Participates in and supports capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers
- Coordinate with network manager, business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives
- Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best -practices regarding privacy, security, and compliance
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers
- Recommend, schedule and coordinate and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases
- Research and Remediate Security Concerns (svc accounts, admin accounts, groups, permissions)
- Maintain policies and procedures (Disaster and Security) along industry standards
- Participate in the On Call Rotation
- Serves as 2nd level support assisting Tech’s with end user calls as needed
- Assist with any assigned duties associated with the IT department
Skills/Abilities:
- Working technical knowledge of network Servers, PC’s, and platform operating systems, including VMWare, Microsoft Windows Server 2019 – Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, Microsoft IIS, and Microsoft SQL Server
- Extensive application support experience with Windows and Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of Email Systems and Management including Anti-virus, Spam Filters
- Experience with Web Filtering Software and Features
- Knowledge of Best Practices for software updates including Windows and 3rd party applications
- Experience with Network Infrastructure troubleshooting
- Experience with Wireless Infrastructures for troubleshooting
- Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including [Active Directory]
- Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
- Working knowledge of data management
- Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. People Softskills required
- Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals

Preferred Experience/Training:
- Bachelor Degree in computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience in the specified field
- MCSE Certification and/or N and A Certifications

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate and handle keyboards and controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. Must be able to Navigate the stairs and catwalks in a mill environment.
