What are the responsibilities and job description for the Log Processing Lead position at Hood Plywood?
Hood Industries, Inc is seeking a Green End Log Processing Lead for our Beaumont, MS plywood facility. This is a greenfield site that will employ up to 250 employees. As a Green End Log Processing Lead, you will play a critical role within the business by ensuring assigned areas operate in the safest, most efficient, and profitable manner.
Purpose:
Lead the Log Processing manufacturing area by utilizing the Hood Philosophy of “The Hood Way” and by engaging people and leading them through the process to drive sustainable performance, while maintaining positive employee relations, meeting the company’s production goals, and operating within company policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This position would provide direct support to supervision and will set an example for co-workers striving for safety, excellence and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide work directions to the green end log processing team.
• Communicate regularly with team and management to ensure impeccable communication concerning log processing issues.
• Monitors the operation of the log processing equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned down time.
• Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement through root cause analysis.
• Understands monthly, weekly and daily numbers regarding efficiency, productivity, downtime, quality and safety.
• Resolve operating, scheduling, and production issues as needed.
• Leads safety, health and environmental policies and practices within the team.
• Provide leadership and set an example of proper professional conduct for others.
• Support the implementation of reliability maintenance and continuous improvement culture across the facility.
• Drive the continuous improvement process through team members.
• Performs basic maintenance checks on the log processing equipment, identifying potential equipment malfunctions, and coordinating with maintenance personnel for repairs.
• May also have additional responsibilities related to the operations of the plant as assigned.
Job Preferences/Qualifications:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred; experience may be used in place of a degree.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of plant/manufacturing processes.
• Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.
• Ability to effectively lead a team, delegate tasks, and provide clear instructions.
