Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include two plywood and three lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-four specialty wood product distribution operations, located in eighteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.
Hood Plywood, a division of Hood Industries, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic for our Beaumont, MS facility. This position is responsible for being a cross-functional member of the mill team while managing multiple tasks. This is a greenfield site that will employ up to 250 employees.
Position Description:
• Must maintain service operations by inspecting and maintaining vehicles.
• Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles and completing preventive maintenance.
• Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components and repairing minor body damage.
• Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
• Keeps shop equipment operating in a safe manner. Must practice good safe work habits to avoid injury to self and to other employees.
• Must be able to work weekends.

Required skills/experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of industrial motor shop experience.
• This Mechanic experience should include gasoline and diesel-powered mobile equipment and be able to diagnose and repair simple and complex vehicle issues.
• Must have experience with forklifts
• High School Diploma or GED required, technical training or associate’s degree preferred
