What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Receptionist position at Hooksett Veterinary Clinic?
We are a very busy companion animal practice, seeking a cheerful and efficient Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. Prior veterinary experience is preferred. As the first point of contact for clients, this role is crucial in setting the tone for our clinic, as well as in providing excellent customer service and client support, while ensuring the smooth operation and flow of the clinic. A passion for animals is expected, but not the only requirement for this position. The ideal candidate must also possess strong communication skills, dependable attendance, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Duties:
- Acknowledge and greet clients and their pets upon arrival, providing a smile and welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments efficiently, both regular and urgent, according to protocol.
- Answer phone calls promptly with a cheerful tone and helpful demeanor.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all information is up-to-date.
- Process payments and manage billing inquiries politely and accurately.
- Assist veterinary staff by timely preparation and filling of patient records.
- Provide basic information to clients on pet care, products, vaccination schedules and preventative health measures.
- Maintain the reception area in a clean and organized manner, and keep stocked with necessary supplies.
Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication with clients and staff.
- Basic experience in dog and cat behavior, to maintain the reception area in a safe, clean and calm fashion for clients, pets and staff.
- Understanding of practice protocol for emergency situations.
- Basic knowledge of animal anatomy to provide accurate information regarding pet health concerns.
- Computer proficiency and above average spelling, grammar and penmanship.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining a positive attitude in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with multi-line phone systems and handling multiple calls at one time.
- This position requires standing the majority of the workday.
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- 10am-6pm - 4 days a week
- 8am-1pm - 2 rotating Saturdays a month
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
