Overview
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of peace officer duties involving the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public; performs related work as assigned.
Duties And Responsibilities
1. Responds to suspicious activities and answers emergency calls for service.
2. Patrols assigned areas to ensure the security of life and property, observe situations and deter crime by providing high visibility.
3. Enforces state, federal, and Tribal laws and ordinances; issues verbal warnings and citations; pursues and apprehends suspects and request assistance as required.
4. Investigates criminal activity and incidents as the assigned detective.
5. Responds to suspicious activities and answers emergency calls for service.

7. Enforces state, federal and tribal laws and ordinances; issues verbal warnings and citations; pursues and apprehends suspects and request assistance as required.
8. Investigates juvenile and designated adult criminal activity and incidents as the assigned detective.
9. Coordinates crime scene control and investigation, including interviews and interrogations, identification of witnesses, overseeing collection and preservation of physical evidence.
10. Restores order, protects life and property, and maintains the peace at public gatherings and in conflict situations.
11. Prepares and documents cases, completes reports and records, and prepares and maintains other logs and records.
12. Transports criminals to the courts, hospitals and various other locations.
13. Serves civil papers to Tribal and County residents; researches and locates person to be served.
14. Serves as a team member in such special projects as drug enforcement, livestock investigations, boating regulation enforcement and tribal and federal resource protection enforcement.
15. Investigates traffic accidents and provides traffic and crowd control as necessary; participates in special details and assignments.
16. Rescue and Resource enforcement.
17. Retrieves, identifies and returns found property and/or evidence to owners.
18. Provides emergency aid and assistance to incapacitated persons and requests additional response.
19. Provides information, directions, and other services and assistance to the public.
20. Coordinates with and serves as back-up to other law enforcement agencies.
Qualifications
· Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
· Must be California P.O.S.T certified within the previous three years
· Must possess and maintain firearms qualifications.
· Must successfully pass a Title 30A Employment Background and a California Police Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) background checks.
Must be willing to work nights/weekends/holiday shifts.
· Must have a California Driver’s license and be insurable.
· Knowledge of basic law enforcement terminology and concepts.
· Knowledge of techniques for dealing with people of all socio-economic levels under hostile and emergency situations.
· Knowledge of safety practices and precautions pertaining the work.
· Knowledge or experience in first aid methods and ability to apply them in the field.
· Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex laws and procedures and policies.
· Ability to observe and accurately recall places, names, descriptive characteristics, and facts of incidents.
· Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
