The principal should have a strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, experience in data collection and analysis, commitment to professional development for self and educators, be able to effectively engage with families and the surrounding community.The Hoosac Valley Elementary School principal is responsible for: *Ensuring the safety and well-being of students;*Fostering shared leadership within the school community*Building strong family partnerships;*Selecting, hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff in accordance with district policies, administering the school budget; andoverseeing the school building and its operations and activities.*Create a foundation of equity, anti-racism, and culturally relevant learning experiences that cultivate a safe and welcoming school community. *Coordinate the program of instruction for grades Prek-3;*Develop, recommend and implement effective teaching methods, procedures and practices;*Approve, support and implement the delivery of services, in collaboration with the Administrator of Special Education, to children with Individualized Education Plans;*Assign teachers and other school personnel to various duties;*Assist in the planning and implementation of curriculum development and revision;*Supervise the schools discipline program;*Supervise the schools testing program, consistent with regional school district and state policies;*Assess the budgetary needs of the school;* Recommend long-range maintenance programs;*All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
