JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Career Coach
REPORTS TO: School Principal and Career and Technical Education Director
JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and
psychological growth and maturation in accordance with system philosophy, goals, and objectives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, communication, or related field
Knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standards / Alabama’s PLAN 2020
Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, including peers, students, parents, employers, and community agencies
Ability to proficiently use current technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information
Ability to establish credibility with all constituents and be comfortable and effective working with all levels of an organization
Knowledge of workplace readiness skills and current employment trends
Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities
Represent the Career Coach Program in local schools and conduct public relations efforts to promote the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs
Remain knowledgeable of current employment trends
Possess a working knowledge of the Alabama Career Development Model and assist with its implementation in Grades K-12
Provide career development guidance for students in Grades K-12 with emphasis on CTE programs
Plan and implement student recruitment activities for CTE programs
Possess a working knowledge of the Alabama Career Planning System and assist with its implementation in Grades K-12
Assist students in Grades K-12 with career exploration activities and career assessments
Assist students with college admissions, financial aid - including FASFA - and registration procedures
Provide information to educators, students, and their families regarding the current job market and career choices
Conduct classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities.
Provide information regarding the current job market and trends in career choices Board
Schedule and attend college campus tours and industry tours with students
Assist with coordinating job shadowing and other work-based learning opportunities for students
Maintain an ongoing database of career coach services available and submit reports of completed activities
Engage community partners including the local Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Board, and postsecondary institutions
Participate in Regional Workforce Council meetings and events
Assist the Local Education Agency ( LEA) with College and Career Readiness initiatives
Adhere to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)
