Job Description
We are looking for a Chemical Heel Coordinator to join our team. As our Chemical Heel Coordinator, you will be responsible for opening and inspecting all incoming totes to identify the Heel (residual chemical) and/or debris remaining. Our ideal candidate will have experience and understanding of chemical identification and storage.
- Open incoming totes to identify remaining heel and/or debris.
- Identifying chemicals and ensure proper storage practices are followed.
- Ensure proper waste management practices are followed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all hazardous waste management activities including waste inventories, disposal, and reporting.
- Must be able to recognize different parts and assemble according to specification in an accurate and timely manner.
- Scraping residual dry heel (chemical residue) from the inside of totes.
- Applies decals, stickers and DOT tags as required according to specification sheets.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with chemicals, hazardous waste, or a similar role.
- Certification in hazardous waste management or related fields (e.g., Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Repose, DOT Hazardous Material Handling) preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of Hazmat placards.
- Knowledge and understanding of SDS sheets.
- Ability to identify chemicals and their classification.
- Excellent knowledge of chemicals and understanding of storage requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to read and understand directions, procedures, and checklists.
- Mechanically inclined and experience with basic power tools.
- Must have the ability to use basic math skills; add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to repeatedly climb staircase ladder.
- Ability to wear respirator 95% of the shift.
- Moderate physical effort which requires standing on a concrete floor for prolonged periods of time.
- Regularly required to reach above head, stepping up and down stool, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to climb inside totes as needed.
- Work is in an unairconditioned warehouse.
- Will be working in different weather conditions (e.g., rain, heat, humid, cold).
