What are the responsibilities and job description for the Revenue Cycle Management Analyst position at HOPCo?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviewing, processing, and analyzing large amounts of data related to claims submissions and revenue.
- Designing queries and manipulating large volumes of data to create reporting to identify and interpret revenue trends and areas of opportunity
- Analyze revenue cycle processes, including patient registration, insurance verification, authorization, billing, coding, claims and denial management
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as days in accounts receivable (AR), denial rates, and collection percentages to assess financial health - Create queries to pull financial/claims data to be used to develop analytics to help stakeholders make informed decisions
- Keeps abreast of trends as they relate to revenue cycle best practices by self-study, attending job related conferences and courses which enhance personal development and strengthen the services provided. Keep apprised of new technologies offered in the related field.
- Create operational business review slides to assist with monthly performance updates, opportunities, and areas of focus
- Be flexible with own work schedule to accommodate the needs of customer departments.
- High level of organization, time management and delegation skills necessary to prioritize and adjust workflow as volume and deadlines mandate.
- Interpersonal skills essential to communicate effectively, written and oral, with internal and external personnel at various levels.
- Complete complex and special assignments, sometimes with tight deadlines and limited guidance.
EDUCATION
- High School diploma or GED required. Prefer post-secondary training in Health Care, Education, or related field
EXPERIENCE
- Five years' experience working in a healthcare environment providing process and application support to the revenue cycle team.
- Proven experience in an analyst role where extracting, synthesizing and storytelling of data was a primary function.
- 2 years’ experience working with large and complex data sets and data applications such as Power BI, Tableau or other business analytics tool.
- Progressive career in a complex revenue cycle environment highly preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
- Advanced computer skills – proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Excellent critical thinking, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of revenue cycle applications is required.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills.
- Self-directed and self-motivated; skilled in multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple projects/ objectives.
- Work equally well independently and as part of a team.
- Employ proactive, solution-oriented approach to all assigned activities in a rapidly changing environment.
- Convey enthusiasm, maintain energy and optimism under sometimes physically and mentally demanding circumstances
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of healthcare claim operations and payment models
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Knowledge of government regulatory requirements and commercial contracts
- Knowledge of creating presentation slides with supporting documentation
- Knowledge of customer service best practice

- Skill in effective data collection and analysis

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal office environment. Extended work hours to meet department objectives may be necessary. Some travel may be required to support revenue cycle quarterly meetings.

- Sitting for long periods of time. Stress from competing priorities. Manual dexterity using a mouse and computer keyboard.
- Potential for travel up to 5% of the time
