JOB DESCRIPTION The assistant principal oversees daily school operations, ensuring student safety and compliance with performance standards. This leadership role involves collaboration with students, teachers, administrators, board members, and parents. The assistant principal has a meaningful and influential role in educational environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:
- Assumes responsibility for the continual improvement of the quality of the instructional team.
- Embodies high expectations for student learning and behavior and ensures that student conduct and attendance conforms with the school's standards and policies.
- Acts ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision-making, stewardship of the schools’ resources, and all aspects of leadership.
- Places children at the center of education and accepts responsibility for each student’s academic success and well being.
- Provides leadership for evaluating and improving educational programs with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extracurricular activities.
- Conducts high quality classroom observations to identify effective teaching practices.
- Meets periodically with the Head of School to discuss new materials and programs, evaluate present programs, and consider problems of mutual concern.
- Meets and confers with parents about academic or behavioral concerns.
- Coordinates with staff and school leaders to develop instructional programs.
- Assists members of the team in analyzing test data and planning instruction accordingly.
- Assists interventionist(s) in developing and implementing individualized plans of instruction.
- Assists in ensuring that Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
- Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.
- Assists with master scheduling and teacher assignments.
- Supports communications, public relations, and recruitment.
- Other responsibilities assigned by the Head of School.
- Assumes Head of School duties when needed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 210 days annually with salary
